Rare Colt Service Model Ace 22/45 Conversion Unit
serial #U2254, 22 LR, 5'' barrel with floating chamber and an excellent bore. This post war assembled unit retains about 97% plus original blue with light high edge wear, scattered scratches and a few minor oxidation blemishes. The kit includes a complete slide assembly featuring adjustable improved Stevens rear sight and serrated ramp front sight plus it also includes a barrel with floating chamber, ejector, barrel bushing, recoil spring guide, recoil spring and solid blue factory magazine marked ''COLT / CAL. 22 LR'' on the base. The kit has recoil spring plug and slide stop and original 2 toned magazine. The right side of the slide is marked ''COLT CONVERSION / UNIT 22 LONG / RIFLE'' and on the top near the rear sight is ''U2254''. The kit includes an original box that is hand-numbered to the gun on the cover but it rates fair to good showing heavy repairs on all sides and several strips of tape across the cover. The interior rates about good to very good overall with tears in the cover and handling wear. The last 405 units were assembled in October 1946 between serial numbers 2001 and 2670. There are some gaps in the serial numbers of units produced after the war but less than 2,670 were made. They remain a rare and desirable treasure from Colt.
